It's expected that you're a respectful person if you choose to join World of Remnant. Everybody has their opinions, their likes and dislikes; don't diss them. Things like racism, sexism, or other forms of discrimination, regardless of whether they are in a joking
manner or not, will not be tolerated. Everybody here has the right to a safe, accepting environment. Members found in violation of this will be subject to severe consequences. Be respectful. Be an adult.
It's a simple thing -- don't harass people repeatedly for things. World of Remnant is not a rapid-fire site, and while we do have activity requirements, members and staff alike have lives. Don't harass people to post for you (within reason -- if it's been a month or longer, by all means, remind them, because that's not fair to you as a player). Don't harass the staff to review your stuff. We're a busy bunch, and it takes coordination. However, if it has been more than 3 days and you have not received a reply or a review for your application, you may PM Mary or Fireseeker to get it done.
Drama doesn't belong in the OOC community, period. Don't argue with other members, don't be judgemental, and most of all, don't be cliquey! Again, we expect everyone to be mature adults. That being said, sometimes it's hard to approach someone who's been causing you issues. Regardless of whether this person is a member or a staff member, if this happens, please contact an administrator! We're here to help, and that's what we want to do. If someone's rude to you, or making you uncomfortable, tell us! We'll absolutely take your concerns into consideration, and if need be, we'll deal with it.
04: Character Limits.
We don't have a character limit here, and we don't do character bans (you know, that thing where you have too many females, so you don't allow more females, or you have too many faunus, so you make people play humans). We encourage people to spread their characters around, of course, but if you only want to make female students at Haven Academy, then by all means, do it. However, remember that you do
have to stay active with your characters. Don't stretch yourself too thin on plots and leave other people in the dust. It's not cool.
Our application format is separated into three parts, all of which are handled separately. First, you post your character application; this includes your character's basic details, appearance, personality, and history. You may have a maximum of one
of these applications pending at any given time, unless given special staff permission. If you have 3 or more characters, you must wait a minimum of 3 days before posting a new application. If you have 5 or more characters, you must wait one weeek (7 days) before posting a new one. This time frame applies from the day your application is accepted
, not the day you posted it. Why?
This is to help staff keep up with applications more smoothly, and allow newer members to get their applications through promptly without being slowed down by members who already have characters they can use on-site. Once your regular application is accepted, you are free to start roleplaying!
After you've completed your regular application, you can work on your Combat Application, which includes your weapon and semblance. Like before, you can only have one of these pending at any given time, and the same rules apply above with posting applications; if you have 3 or more accepted, you must wait 3 days before posting a new one, and if you have 5 or more, you must wait a week.
Once those are both accepted, you can work on your Combat Page, which covers your combat abilities and any upgrades you choose to buy using your Lien.
06: Account Registration.
Register with your OOC account first. This is a requirement. If you don't, you will be asked to change it; you can change your name via the user CP. Your OOC account is used for everything
-- this means your applications, your claims, PMs, and everything is posted with your OOC account, always. Do not post any of these things with your character account, ever.
Use your OOC. Always.
After, and ONLY after, your character is accepted,
you may register your character account. You can do this by going to your sub-account and registering a new account from there. If you register your character account before your character is accepted, your account will be immediately deleted
Character names must follow the RWBY OC Rules
given by Monty Oum. Please list the meaning(s) for your character's name(s) in the Notes section of your character application, to make it easy for staff. Team names must also follow this rule. To make it easier, either the first or last name must be closely related to a colour. For team letters, the first letter is always the leader, and in choosing your letter, you may use the first letter of either the first or last name.
08: Posting & Literacy.
We are an intermediate roleplaying site. We expect our members to have decent basic grammar, spelling, and capitalization; this is regardless of whether English is your first, second, fifth, or tenth language. Your writing must be at least understandable. We're not going to grammar nazi you or act like the spell-check police, but we will notify you if we feel you're not up to the standards of our site. If you're not sure, check out some of the accepted applications -- that will give you a (general) idea of what we're looking for.
And most of all, we can't stress this more, especially in applications. Be concise.
The simpler, the better sometimes! Remember, too much detail can be just as problematic, if not more so, than not having enough detail!
Life happens, and we get it. It happens to the best of people! That being said, we also understand that it's not fair to hold up plots or positions when other people might want them as well. Our activity requirements are simple. Canon characters and canon positions (such as maidens, silver eyes, and androids) must post, at minimum, once a week. This week is counted from your last post date, which you can find on your character's profile. We will give a one-week exception if you're waiting for other people in your topics, but no more. Original characters must post once every two weeks. If you fail to meet these requirements, you will be warned via a tag in our Activity Tag Thread. After two or more warnings, depending on the frequency, your character(s) may be archived without warning, and your positions opened up.
10: Absence Threads.
In accordance with the above rule, whenever possible, absence threads are mandatory. If you know something's going to come up, or you've found you're pretty busy and not sure when it's going to slow down, let us know! We're not going to hold you responsible for having life flush you down the toilet. It happens to the best of us. Try to keep your thread updated every couple of weeks, if possible. If you're gone for more than a month on a single absence (and you haven't said you'd be gone that long), then we reserve the right to archive your stuff and open your positions up.
Characters that are archived, unless otherwise decided by the affected player(s), will be considered deceased IC. Player(s) who are involved with those characters reserve the right to open the position to another player, and re-adopt the plot(s) they had. This is to let players who are active still keep rolling with the plots they've got in the event someone drops. After your character is archived, you have one week to re-claim them, or they are considered reopened / deceased (depending on circumstance).
Team assignments are conducted in two ways: you have the choice of making your own team, or being sorted by the staff. If you choose to make your own team, you must decide your character's team name in the application. (If you change your mind later, you're free to request it to be changed). Being sorted by the staff, however, means that the staff
will choose your team name, and depending on other players who are waiting, they reserve the right to put you in a suitable team for your character with other players. If you choose to be staff-sorted, you do not get to choose who is on your team. If you wish to make a team with another player, then you must make your own team.
Don't advertise other sites via PM, period. Other sites may not be talked about in the chatbox, with the exception of our sister sites
. That being said, try to refrain from talking too
much about other sites. Mentioning them by name is fine (including dead sites), but we're here to be part of World of Remnant, not other sites. If you're wanting to advertise, use the proper forums for it, period.
We use a mixture of custom and canon lore available on the site. Lore posted in our lore thread becomes site canon; in the event that some aspects are contradicted by future RWBY volumes or other mediums (such as podcasts, Twitter, or the RoosterTeeth website), the lore present on-site may be modified, or it may be left as site canon, depending on the severity. Changes like this will be communicated with site members when they are made.
14: Face Claims.
Face claims are mandatory. They are limited to artwork or animation only. You may only use a claim from an existing medium, and you may not use custom fan-art unless it is of your own design or specifically commissioned by you. You must also claim your claims in the Face Claims thread; failure to do so means that if someone else reserves or claims your face, you will be asked to change yours. No two characters may have the same face (except in the event of twins, which is decided upon by players at creation). Mediums that have similar or 'alternate' versions (the Fate-verse is notorious
for this) may result in claims that cover a number of characters considered 'too similar' to be different (i.e. Saber Arturia and Saber Nero).
15: Graphics & Images.
The application size is 200 pixels by 400 pixels -- please make sure your images are the right size, or it makes the template look funky. The default avatar size is 250x450, and the same applies. Signatures are disabled for the site, and will not appear. Posted images may be no wider than 500 pixels, and no higher than 800 pixels. If you don't have a means to resize an image, contact a staff member or ask in the cbox; we're more than happy to help you with that! Posted GIFs may not be any larger than 200x200 pixels. Try to refrain from using too many. Gifs are not allowed as avatars, both on-site or in the cbox.
Secondly, do not use Imgur as your host.
It is against Imgur's Terms of Service to hotlink (and, at times, Jcink sites have been blacklisted for it). Your account may be deleted by them. We recommend Postimage as an alternative; it's simple, reliable, and the like. For those of you whose Photobucket accounts have also been nerfed, we also recommend Postimage!
We are an 18+ only forum. This means that our members are above the age of 18. Members under that age are not allowed. If you are caught, you will be banned without question. At times, our content may not be suitable for viewers under the age of 18. Our content is rated 3-2-3, which is fairly flexible; however, in terms of sexual content, we ask that anything explicit either be glossed over, or fade-to-black if possible. Some description is allowed, but keep it classy. Explicit detail is prohibited.
